One thing I would mind is that we could write a separated article about ask fedora, maybe showing some number: how many users, how many posts, etc.

we can have some benefit from data-explorer plug-ins on discourse:

Data Explorer, Run SQL queries against your database, allowing for instant stats reporting.

Also this building functions:

I wrote an initial draft (only some quick ideas)

This looks very good

Do you think some metrics would be useful for the non AskFedora bits too? How many tickets we worked on, how many were fixed---this could also include metrics on "Welcome to Fedora", and we could possibly start using that as a template to send reports to the community each month?

What is our target audience here? Should we try to make the post cater to both folks in the community and folks outside the community too---that way we can use this as a marketing post too :thought_balloon:

@alciregi here are your MATH about askfedora:

I created a bunch of SQL in askfedora is available in data explorer plug-in, all are customizable and the input are date from and date to.... only admin can acces it...

https://hhlp.fedorapeople.org/Join/ask-fedoraproject-org.ods

What Is it include?

  • Count new TL1, TL2, TL3, TL4 users past 12 months by month
  • Top quality users in last years
  • List of users by who’s solved the most topics/threads last year
  • Posts created for period
  • List of users by who’s solved the most topics/threads last year

And also a PLOT inside the worksheet...

if you need more just ping me..

Hey @hhlp, it can ne interesting, but:
- let's start with a SIG retrospective (not only ask fedora)
- schedule a specific ask fedora retrospective in April/may ( when we started to use discourse)
- grab generic data (I mean, not focused on specific users): like how many posts in a year, average monthly posts number, new users each month, etc.

Yes, there are all you need...

  1. how many posts in a year -> Posts created for period order by category
  2. new users each month -> Count new users order by month

Plus

  • Top 50 active topics
  • Top quality users in this period
  • List of users by who’s solved the most topics/threads this period

I agree that we're very new on this, but this information will help in near future too, also Discourse is a Community System made by person why don't give some credit to them? even just once a year and reflect this in some place...

Regards.,

Something like "Heroes of Ask Fedora" :-D

What do we need to do here next @alciregi @hhlp? Can you assign a task to me please?

Hello @ankursinha
I wrote something here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_Join_SIG/Retrospective2019
But I'm currently out of idea.

As I said I would leave in deep Ask Fedora statistics and considerations for another post.

@alciregi

Your post is Very complete, review all the task that we have done the last year in a consisa way, all we need is add Metric about all this task,

  • Askfedora
  • Join SIG

Regards.,

I'll take a look by Wednesday and add bits on Join SIG. The first status check in #184 could provide some information, for example?

Any update?
I'm out of ideas.

Talking About askfedora, I think your wiki page is Good Enough Just add METRIC provide by me in a previous TOPIC

If you don't have time I can add Metric to the wiki, and write the announce in commonblog...

Regards.,

@alciregi : i think it's complete tbh.

In the "future" section, I think all we need to do is:

  • find ways of encouraging more community members involved in fedora-join to help newcomers.

it's ready for the commblog IMO

I wrote the article https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=8736 (I don't know who has the right to view the preview).

I added this paragraph:

What about the future

There is always room for improvements.

We should find ways of encouraging more community members involved in fedora-join to help newcomers. And to encourage more community members from other teams to hang around the Fedora Join SIG community channels in order to help the newcomers in find their path and where they can be helpful in the Project.

We should also revive the Fedora Classroom program, and again, we need more community members interested in hosting live lessons or audio/video recordings.

I would love to help with the classroom sessions in any way possible.

Please start a discussion on the classroom mailing list. (Let's keep tickets on topic)

This is the public preview https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/?p=8736&preview=1&_ppp=e5174b6d41

Looks good! Do you think a section "We need your help" as a call for contributions would make a good addition?

  • to help with the new process
  • to help with hanging out in channels to speak to newbies
  • to help with classrooms
  • to work on quick docs, and docs in general

Yes, sure.
How to set up the topic? A paragraph under What about the future?

Paragraph title: Call for contributions
We need community members involvement
- to help with the new process
- to help with hanging out in channels to speak to newbies
- to help with classrooms
- to work on quick docs, and docs in general

Yeh, even without a title would do. Just add the text to the bottom of "What about the future?"

Always nice to end with some info on where people can help XD

+1

LATM (Looks awesome to me!)
