Can someone look into this please?

  • go over the common questions on AskFedora
  • check to see if these are on quick-docs

Then, refer to #93

https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/10217/sticky-how-do-i-install-adobe-flash-on-fedora/ ------> Adobe offer a REPO for this now... add this step

WDYT?

Looks good! Thanks very much! Can you check to see how much of this
information is on quick-docs already? We'll update and add missing bits?

I point it you in DONE comment it's already :

DONE:

  • View log's in fedora
  • Upgrade the system via DNF

UPDATE :

  • Plug-ins to watch movies and listen music should be added with KDE and Internet Radio with askfedora information
  • Adobe Flash Adobe should be added offer a REPO for this now... add this step

Rest are new in quick-docs

Regards.,

Yikes, so we have a couple of quick docs to write then. @hhlp should we open tickets for individual questions that need to be moved and ask people to open PRs on quick-docs? (Instead of you and me doing it all?)

By the way. Docs.fp.o does not yet have search functionality: https://pagure.io/fedora-docs/docs-fp-o/issue/2

Anddd, a lot of information on quick docs is currently wrong, so we need a review to ensure we're not giving users wrong information. Any ideas?

Well I ensure for personal use, I know is well enough :

  • Report Bu'gs
  • Virtualization
  • View Log's
  • Plug-ins to watch movies and listen music, + should be added with KDE and Internet Radio with stuff from askfedora
  • Adobe Flash Adobe + should be added offer a REPO for this now... add this step
  • Upgrading Fedora Using DNF
  • Upgrading to new-release
  • Java look OK
  • Non problem with GPG we can improve with some article from fedora magazine or add a reference to it...

What I'm missing, some Wayland stuff in quick-docs

We can have two fases in the project :

  1. Update actual quick-docs + add askfedora stuff.
  2. Improve quick-docs at an other goal not related specific with moving askfedora to discourse.

WDYT? Regards.,

Sure, but my worry is that if we point to quick-docs, users will also look
at other information there which is not up to date or correct. Id rather
not point our users to bad documentation.

If quick docs are not all reviewed and considered okay for use, i think its
better if we dont use them right now at all. (A majority of quick docs are
wiki pages that have been automatically converted and have not yet been
reviewed)

we can make a WIKI an start the moving LATER... and link it to askfedora guidelines ...

WDYT?

hrm, I was hoping we wouldn't have to extra work here. Using a wiki now and moving to docs later would require other changes.

Should we just use quick docs. They'll improve as they get used more I guess? There's no review system there, and few contributors, so unless they get more active we arent going to see them improve :(

How do we proceed here?
I've submitted a PR to update https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/10217/sticky-how-do-i-install-adobe-flash-on-fedora/ with the Adobe repos
The wiki page could be useful to keep track of the docs/sticky questions, if they are good, if they need to be updated, and so on.
What do you think?

Your PR was merged, Yay!

So, for "sticky" questions, should we open topics in "Start here" with the link to the quick docs?
Quick docs are not translated, so it doesn't make sense to have these topics in each language category.

We do need to keep this list small, otherwise the "Welcome" posts in the Start here topic will get lost! How about a "sticky" tag to mark these---and then we link to the tag in each "Welcome" post?

For stuff that is not yet on quick-docs, I would suggest either moving them there via PRs etc or waiting for someone to do it. Personally, I really don't want to go back to a wiki page (or any wiki pages). If we keep using the wiki, the info will never make it to quick-docs. Instead it's double work to maintain the wiki page, and then think about moving it to quick docs.

You are right.
But what I mean is not to write the docs on the wiki and then move them to quick-docs.
I mean to keep track of the common questions listed by @hhlp in a previous comment: they are on quick docs? What is the link? They need to be improved/updated? They need to be moved there?

If they are already on quick docs, I was asking if we should add a "Common tasks" topic to "Start here" and list them there?

If they are not yet on quick-docs, I'd just open issues on the quick-docs pagure project directly instead of managing them in a wiki. That way anyone looking to contribute to quick-docs can also pick them up. What do you think?

It makes sense.

https://askbeta.fedoraproject.org/t/this-is-a-list-of-commonly-asked-questions/123 -> add more bits here as needed. I've closed it to prevent more posts to the topic.
