#969 server request for EKG
Closed: Fixed None Opened 15 years ago by mspevack.

We're ramping up participation in the EKG project (https://fedorahosted.org/ekg/) and one of the things we need is a machine on which we can have the nightly cron jobs that produce the database run, and can provide the master home for our database files, and to serve the results files.

So I suppose this is a request for a virtual machine, initially with mspevack and mdehaan having the ability to log in and get root, with others potentially in the future.

thanks!

I'd be interested in acting as an infrastructure sponsor for the resources for this. However I'd like the suggest the following approach:

Nightly scripts run on bapp(x), content served from app(x) at fedoraproject.org/ekg (or even potentially ekg.fedoraproject.org as it doesn't really fit under fedoraproject.org or admin.fedoraproject.org).

HOWEVER, I'm concerned over the use of GCharts for graphing (looking at the upstream's webpage it even directly links to Google Charts website), as far as I remember there are concerns with using services not hosted by/apart of Fedora Project. (A reason why we didn't use Google instead of start.fedoraproject.org

Google Charts provides a very nice rendering API that produces no load on Fedora servers, and saves bandwith. Is that a liability concern or a policy concern?

start.fedoraproject.org uses Google for search.

Fair enough, though if we do this we also need to remove start.fedoraproject.org as it's also a non-OSS remote software service.

max, you're using rawhide1 for this right? If so please close the ticket.

This ticket can be closed. We've got a server for this (and other CommArch stuff) inside Red Hat.
