#9559 Fedora India mailing list issues/glitches
Closed: Will Not/Can Not fix 2 years ago by kevin. Opened 3 years ago by ankursinha.

Describe what you would like us to do:

The Fedora India mailing list seems to be experiencing some issues:

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/lists/india.lists.fedoraproject.org/

On the main list of lists, it is marked as inactive:

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/?name=india

However, I'd posted in December after @siddharthvipul1 and I had requested mod access to it (https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issue/9476) . A few of my e-mails from December are also visible in the archives:

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/india@lists.fedoraproject.org/

However, some others are not.

This morning we saw that the subscription list was empty, but this was not the case in December when we'd checked. Even @siddharthvipul1 and I weren't subscribed to the list---I had so re-subscribe.

Could someone please check what's happened to cause this? If possible, could the subscription list please be restored also? (Unless everyone manually unsubscribed to the list individually, in which case that's OK---unlikely since I had also been unsubscribed and I certainly didn't do that myself).

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

Whenever convenient please.

The list no longer seems to be inactive (from what I can see), however, I do only see 3 emails in December and about 14 subscribers total.

Yeh, those 3 e-mails are probably from me announcing the new meeting. At some point, the subscriber list got cleared completely---I'm really not sure how that happened. I didn't get a notification about being unsubscribed either and didnt realise my mails weren't reaching the list until I went to the admin interface to clear up some spam (the list was set up to silently discard e-mails from non members). We've now started asking people to subscribe to it again.

Any chance we can get the list of subscribers before December (and re-add them)?

I'm also not sure why the list isn't marked inactive now---it was when we'd checked last time. Is that an automated thing perhaps?

Thanks for looking into it @pingou :)

I'll ask if we have a DB dump from that time, if we don't then I don't see how we would recover the info :/

Thanks. Yeh, no worries if we can't get the info back. I'll force us to do a clean restart which isn't necessarily a bad thing either, and active folks will find out sooner or later anyway.

I'm more worried about how it happened tbh. Would any logs tell us this? Maybe I was absent minded and clicked the wrong button or something?

Unfortunately, we don't have database dumps back to then. ;(

And logs have rotated off.

So, I'm not sure there's much we can do. ;(

Sorry about that.

I thought I had found one the other day, I need to look where I've saved it but
I thought I had one from which I should be able to extract the list of users
subscribed at that time (iirc it was a December dump).
