#9063 Do not erase badges VM after server migration
Closed: Fixed 3 years ago by kevin. Opened 3 years ago by misc.

Describe what you would like us to do:

I just noticed that I did got flooded by email because the badges VM have been reinstalled and not migrated (as i did assumed that "VM migration" would be disk migration, not reinstallation). There was a few patches and stuff being tested in the VM while I was working on getting the code in a releasable state (eg, get CI to work for a start, which took a while due to delay to get patches merged).

As neither staging nor a local install would work to reproduce most of the problems (due to dependencies on external infra (like copr), firewalling, a need to generate a lot more messages, needing to do the test for a long time, etc), some where tested on the VM directly.

I would like to be able to access the disk image to copy some of the files when the servers will be back.

If this is too inconvenient (like if the plan is to just erase all disks and reinstall), I do have most of them somewhere on my disk in git (fsv of somewhere), but if that's not, well, I would prefer to not restart everything.

I have copied the image of badges-backend01 to your homedir on batcave01.

-rw-r--r--. 1 misc misc 2.7G Jul 18 20:04 badges-backend01.phx2.fedoraproject.org.img.gz

Please be careful with this image as it will have the passwords for db's, etc in it. You may want to download it and wipe config that has passwords first thing, then recover your changes.

Let us know if you need anything further.
