#8746 Wiki giving 504 on edit attempts
Closed: Fixed 4 years ago by adamwill. Opened 4 years ago by adamwill.

I can load wiki pages right now, but any attempt to edit is giving me a 504:

Gateway Timeout

The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.

this is exactly the wrong time for this to happen, given we're trying to finish Beta validation. I've tried five times so far.

tried again a couple hours later, worked now.

The problem is that backups have to happen at some point and there is no good time of the 'day' for them to occur without breaking someone.

What probably needs to be done is setting up a 'wiki' just for qa to use and point your programs and scripts there versus the main one. That wiki doesn't need backups or can be manually backed up by you when you want to.

we can't do backups without disabling edits while it happens?

also, good attempt to try and dump mediawiki maintenance on me, but I'm gonna slide right out of it ;)

Backups occur on a different box than the wiki runs on. Someone needs to write an orchestrator which does that.. which is on our list of backlog somewhere from 2011 or so.

You do know you are the only one using it regularly...

that's not what the history shows. Even at a time when we are very active, lots of other activity there. Including, you know, the Change process...
