#8386 Chromium builds very very slowly
Closed: Fixed 4 years ago by kevin. Opened 4 years ago by spot.

Now, I know chromium is a beast, but aarch64 builds are taking two DAYS to complete, and occasionally timing out entirely.

Is there any possibility to allocate more resources for aarch64 builds for chromium?

The aarch64 builders are running on 5+ year old hardware. We are in the process of bringing up newer systems but I do not know how much it will increase builds.

Right, we are moving to newer hardware.

If you tell me the next time you fire off a build I can force it onto the new hardware and see how it does?

Or I guess I could do a scratch build...

I force assigned a koschei chromium build to a new builder:
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=39048562

lets see how it does

19.5 hours on the new hardware. I guess thats better than 2 days?

How much cpu/memory is assigned to the instance?

Looks like 5 CPU and 40 GB of ram

That's not small, but ... is there any chance we could provision more for chromium?

I don't know the answer to that as we only have so much hardware which can emulate arm32.

I have a plan. We have 2 nodes that have a lot of memory and cpu, but not a ton of disk... so, let me try one builder on those and see how it does.

If it helps we can setup a channel for this (and other large compile) things.

How does 2hours and 17min sound?

I'll look at setting up a heavybuilder channel for this (and possibly other things)

Please let us know if it helps!
