#7632 apps is outdated.... please update
Closed: Fixed 5 years ago by cverna. Opened 5 years ago by remi.

New packages don't appear on https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/

(ex php-pecl-pcov, available for weeks)

Context: I 'm used to add link to apps from upstream repository (e.g. in INSTALL file), so user can get package information / status quickly.

This is a known issue. The problem in in MDAPI. IIRC, the root issue is that YUM sqlite database files on which MDAPI relies disappeared from Fedora repos. Upstream issue: https://pagure.io/mdapi/issue/79

Future of packages application is not clear. It is possible that the application will be deprecated and decommissioned. This was discussed on one of recent infrastructure meetings and on infrastructure mailing list.

It is possible that the application will be deprecated and decommissioned.

This will be terribly sad.
IMHO, we need an application with package info, all distributions have one

And this will make tons of broken links in upstream documentation.

Yes I honestly don't have much to time to look after it. And even less time to look at a replacement for it.
If we are going to use something like elasticsearch for the search functionality at least I think it would be easier to build a front end on top of that.
