#7340 Setting commops@ mailing list to read-only after Wednesday, Nov. 14th
Closed: Fixed 5 years ago Opened 5 years ago by jflory7.

  • Describe what you need us to do:

In fedora-commops#178, we plan to migrate from a mailing list to using the Discourse forums. We want to do the following:

  • Set mailing list to read-only
  • Prevent new subscriptions

We plan to sunset the mailing list on 2018/11/14.

  • When do you need this? (YYYY/MM/DD)

Not earlier than 2018/11/14.

  • When is this no longer needed or useful? (YYYY/MM/DD)

N/A.

  • If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact?

We have two places where people may try to contact / reach out to our sub-project, but the mailing list is not being actively used by core contributors anymore.

I'm filing this ticket early because I'm not sure how to do this or what kind of work is needed to make this happen.

List owners should be able to do this themselves.

Just go to settings and adjust:

  • List identity (note that the list is closed and where you are now)
  • message acceptance (reject new posts)
  • subscriptiion policy (close to new subscriptions)

If you run into any problems with that, let us know.

@kevin Thanks for the step-by-step instruction. I didn't know I could do this myself. I'll give it a go on Nov. 14th.

Thanks!
