The cockpit user is driven by Cockpituous to automatically release the Cockpit Fedora package into koji and bodhi. For that it is a maintainer with commit access.
I would like to use this bot to release the sister project cockpit-ostree. I currently cannot do this on the Settings page:
This user must be in one of the following groups to be allowed to be added to this project: packager
So I suppose it isn't because this got set up for cockpit itself before the Pagure era. Can you please add it to that group, as it factually has been a maintainer for several years already?
When do you need this? No hard limit, but doing releases manually costs some human time.
When is this no longer needed or useful? Not limited.
If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact?
Releases of cockpit-ostree need to be done by a human (me) and are more error prone. The automatic releases are tried and tested, and we've done literally hundreds of them.
I would say this should be filed at https://pagure.io/packager-sponsors/
Thanks @mizdebsk : I looked though a lot of guides and pagure docs, and this evaded me. Filed as https://pagure.io/packager-sponsors/issue/360 .
