#7147 Please forward unregistered users from #fedora-join to #fedora-unregistered also
Closed: Fixed Opened by ankursinha.

  • Describe what you need us to do:
Due to the recent Freenode spam, we've had to change the mode of #fedora-join to +r which limits it to registered users. However, the channel is meant for newbies who are unlikely to have registered yet, and the Freenode "you must be identified with services" message is not good enough for such an audience. Could we please also send them to #fedora-unregistered where fedbot nicely pings them to register, with a link to the docs?

Changing the channel mode of #fedora-join to +f #fedora-unregistered requires one to be an Op in both channels which we are not. Could someone with Op handles in both please do this for us? (It may make sense to do so for all Fedora channels too?)

  • When do you need this? (YYYY/MM/DD)
    Not urgent at all.

  • When is this no longer needed or useful? (YYYY/MM/DD)
    NA

  • If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact?
Unregistered newbies trying to join #fedora-join will be unable to enter the channel and will have to figure out what the crypting "You must be identified with services" message means.

Don't use +r, use +q $~a

That quiets unregistered users

Done.
