Some folks have left the packaging committee and some new folks have joined. This means that we need to update the set of people who can edit pages under the Packaging hierarchy. And technically that set has been out of date for the better part of a decade now.

I don't believe that this is controlled by membership in the packaging-committee FAS group, because until today there were only two people in that group. Instead I believe it's controlled via rights on a "group" in the wiki configuration called "Packaging", along with an extension for restricting edit rights on hierarchies to groups.

I'm actually an Administrator on our wiki, which gives me the ability to do many things, but Mediawiki restricts editing of the user rights page to the Bureaucrats group, not Administrators. The end result is that I don't have editing functionality on the Special:UserRights page. So, could someone either:

• Give me the privs needed to do this for myself (which I believe means adding me to Bureaucrats), or
• Simply update the permissions on the Packaging hierarchy so that the following FAS users can edit:
  • tibbs
  • james
  • churchyard
  • decathorpe
  • ignatenkobrain
  • jwakely
  • laxathom
  • limb
  • mbooth
  • orion
