We often get HTTP 503 errors from while getting mirrors, using dnf from inside Docker.
dnf
URL: https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink
Error: Error downloading packages: Status code: 503 for https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=updates-released-f27&arch=x86_64 Error: Error downloading packages: Status code: 503 for https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=updates-released-f25&arch=x86_64
Thank you for checking the issue.
There seems to be two issues here:
There was a bug in our container restart script that runs every hour at :15 after the hour. This has been fixed. If you were seeing the 503's around 15min after the hour this should now be fixed.
2 of our proxy servers seem to be getting saturated and throwing 503's at other times. We are still investigating this issue.
Thanks for the report.
We think we have solved the second issue now. We will monitor things and make sure, but in the mean time hopefully everything is back to normal.

Thank you. I'll report if it fails again, with timestamps. And yes, the last failure was around :15.
Now fails with slow connection:
Error: Error downloading packages: Curl error (28): Timeout was reached for https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-27&arch=x86_64 [Operation too slow. Less than 1000 bytes/sec transferred the last 30 seconds]

Do you have anything else like which proxy you get getting this from? And what your ip address is? That way I can try to track down what you are seeing. [Updated:] I have looked at the logs and don't see the proxies registering anything other than 200's for the entire 20 minute period from :20 -> :30 GMT . So either the connection is never getting to us or we are registering the fault against another domain. Please let us know what the ip address and if you can add anything to get more info on which proxy ip address you are trying to get to?
The IP address of our machine is 66.187.233.202. Possibly it was a network fault, unrelated to Fedora Infrastructure. I'll report when it reappears again. Thanks.
66.187.233.202
Still appears:
Error: Error downloading packages: Status code: 503 for https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-27&arch=x86_64
Timestamp: 2018-07-02 03:54 UTC
And another one at 04:16. I would reopen this issue.
Thank you.

The patches for DNF have already been committed to the upstream repository as far as I understand.
I am closing this again as the solution should be a more robust DNF.
