This suddenly fixed itself, and I am no longer seeing problems with the sync.

Unfortunately, it still doesn't work for me :(
I have logged in to FAS, changed the password, logout and login to make sure I have correct password and tried to do the kinit. I am still getting the same error message:
kinit: Password incorrect while getting initial credentials
Hmm, suddenly it started to work while I was collecting more into to add to this issue. Seems the sync might take few minutes.
Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy that it fixed itself... I've still got a task entry to look closer, but it looks like it's working now.
