#6112 I am unable to auth to sudo on bodhi-backend01 but can on other hosts
Closed: Fixed 6 years ago Opened 6 years ago by bowlofeggs.

Today I experienced a weird auth issue on bodhi-backend01 (production). I was unable to sudo:

$ sudo chmod 644 /usr/bin/bodhi-push
Password+Token:
Sorry, try again.
Password+Token:
Sorry, try again.
Password+Token:
sudo: 3 incorrect password attempts

I know for sure it's the right password and token, and to prove it to myself I opened a shell on bodhi01 (also production) and used copy/paste to enter the identical password into the two hosts (and I use a yubikey so I just pushed the button on each). bodhi01 accepted it, but backend01 did not. batcave01 is also happy to accept my password (though scolds me that I'm not allowed to run sudo ls on the host ☺).

@kevin attempted to auth on backend01 and was able to do so just fine, so that's a strange data point. This is also not the first time this has happened to me. Sometimes if I wait long enough it'll start working again. I believe I've seen this twice before, but since it seems to be a repeating problem I figured it'd be good to file a ticket.

Can you try again today? I've updated and rebooted bodhi-backend01, so if there was something odd in it's state it should be back now.

@kevin, it does seem to work now. Who knows what happened, but thanks!
