#5860 Help investigating duplicate email notifications
Closed: Invalid Opened by mreynolds.

Hello, so I was hoping I could get some help to figure out why when I do a "git push" on a pagure repo, and I have the mail notification set to "389-commits@lists.fedoraproject.org", why I get duplicate emails sent to me.

Using a testing/debug pagure server I only see one email going out. So is the pagure "production" server misbehaving and sending out two duplicate emails, or is there something on the mailing list side (fedoraproject) that is causing duplicate emails to go out.

I'd be glad to trigger this email notification upon request. I am also available on IRC freenode/#389 as mreynolds.

Thanks!!
Mark

I just ran a test where I set the email address to my account, and I did not get duplicate emails. So something about using "389-commits" is causing fedoraproject to send out duplicate emails. Is the a config issue perhaps on the 389-commits list?

I did have to do a "mass subscription" to get "git@pagure.io", the sender of the pagure emails, to be allowed to post on the list.

I see I am listed twice with different two accounts:

"mareynolds@redhat.com"
"mreynolds@fedoraproject.org"

Looking at the headers of the emails, this is why I'm getting duplicates.

I disabled email notification for "mreynolds@fedoraproject.org", but it's still sending me emails to that address - perhaps this takes time for that setting to kick in?

I think I added that address to owners when we were setting things up.

Perhaps unsubscribe the fedoraproject.org one and remove it from owners?

Okay, unsubscribing the one address worked. Closing ticket. Sorry for the noise.

Absolutely no noise at all. Glad it's working now for you.
