[https://codex.wordpress.org/Version_4.5 WordPress 4.5] was recently announced and released publicly. It is available for download and installation on the Fedora Magazine and Community Blog.

= background analysis =

It might be good to wait a week or two after this ticket is filed before upgrading in case any new patch versions come along and any plugins release updates for any unforeseen bugs.

= implementation recommendation =

Backups will need to be run before upgrading. Short downtime might be anticipated. Assigning ticket to puiterwijk as he has requested all WordPress-related tickets to be assigned to him.

Given that we've had more than enough performance issues recently, I want to first make sure they've added some performance improvements.

Since I've found that the performance issues are not caused by wordpress itself, both are now done.
