#5077 Meetbot meeting names need to be changed
Closed: Fixed None Opened 8 years ago by jflory7.

= phenomenon =
There are some meetings for CommOps that are saved in møte with an incorrect name. This sorts them under an incorrect team name and is inconsistent with past meetings.

If possible, these meetings should be changed from their current name to just "commops".

= background analysis =
It is known that these changes will break the URLs and all past records of them. For the earliest meetings, this change is definitely necessary so to make them discoverable much later (otherwise they will be forgotten about). The two more recent meetings, I am aware of the need to update our wiki pages and mailing list where needed.

How about creating symlinks instead of moving the files? That would help avoid breaking older URLs etc. Please correct me if I am wrong since I do not have the entire context here.

Having symlinks would work fine too.

Raising priority because I am starting to need to use the bad URLs in more places. In the event that they do break, I'd prefer for it to be sooner than later, so it will be less places for me to have to update / correct later.

If symlinking the URLs is possible, that also works, but since I am aware of all of these meeting URLs right now, it is not necessarily a huge priority since I can manually update their static references in the wiki.

You must use #meetingname commops if you want the filename to be saved correctly. Please inform whoever chairs the meeting to use this command, otherwise, there isn't much we can do. I could symlink or move the meetings, but I'm not sure if I want to tamper with the files and break links.

It seems like a bad long-term strategy to be symlinking files, because it simply causes a mess in the long run, especially as many scripts need to be looking and linking these files inside the team folder.

Yeah… this was actually me making a typo… nirik pointed out that I used ''#meeetingname'' instead of ''#meetingname'' for both of the above meetings that happened in 2016. The first few linked were from not knowing about using a name for the meeting.

Basically, the purpose we're looking to achieve is to make sure all of the prior CommOps meetings are sorted correctly under the proper team name. The way they are currently, they exist as their own team, separate from all of our other logs. Ideally, this would be a one-time change that would not need to happen again in the future.

Hmm. I'd like to hear someone's else's opinion on whether to rename these meetings or not.
Perhaps you'd like to start a discussion in #fedora-apps? I'd be down to rename them if it sounds beneficial.

I'd say it's fine to link these to the right names as a one off.

Renamed to commops. Thanks for letting us know of these meetings!
