I was basically just trying to subscribe to the Fedora Server working group mailing list when I hit this issue. I noticed that the main email address is wrong (m4rtink@fedoraproject.org), so I wanted to add a correct one, but could not proceed further as the confirmation link returns a 500 error.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. make sure you are not logged in to FAS
  2. go to https://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/lists/server.lists.fedoraproject.org/
  3. click on the "Log in" button
  4. click on the Fedora logo
  5. login with your FAS name (m4rtink in my case) and password
  6. click on the login name in the upper left
  7. click on "Add email address"
  8. fill in a valid email address you control
  9. click the blue "Add email address" button

Actual outcome

The email address specified above receives a confirmation link. Clicking on the link (in Firefox on F23) only returns a 500 error page. The address is not added to the account. As a result I can't subscribe to the Fedora Server mailing list with a valid email address.

Expected outcome

The specified email address receives a valid confirmation link, that adds the address to the account upon clicking on the link. This would make it possible for me to subscribe to the Fedora Server mailing list with a valid email address.

I will be losing my current email address. I really need to be able to change it.

Can you try again now? There's a possible fix in place...

I currently have a very similar problem, I have described it [https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/81610/fedora-account-system-using-my-gmail-address-for-list-subscription/].

I also got the 500 when clicking on the confirmation link. Now the 500 is gone, but the address is still not added, so I would say the problem is only partly solved.

It worked for me yesterday - I made another attempt, the link worked and I was able to add my real address & subscribe with it to the server mailing list.

BTW, any ideas how to get rid of the m4rtink@fedoraproject.org address as the primary one and replacing it with the real one ?

Doesn't work for me. In my profile https://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/accounts/profile/, I still only see fedoraproject adresses.
Just for the heck of it I tried adding a different address, still no success. The address (and the one previously added) show up on
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/accounts/per-address-preferences/
but I cannot use them to subscribe to any mailing lists.

no need for another ticket, it's clear that the fix for this issue didn't fully fix it. ;(

Any progress yet?

I deployed a fix on the prod server yesterday, my quick tests show that it should be working. Could you check please?
