I've had a private mirror set up since 2008 but sometime within the last few months, metalink has stopped returning its URLs.

report_mirror runs successfully and mirrormanager shows all the directories for f22 and f23 as being up to date. I've recreated the host and double checked the site-local netblocks are correct. I don't know what else to try other than changing the fedora and fedora-update repo files on all my clients to use baseurl instead of metalink. That works but isn't a long term solution.

I think you might have run into a bug in the UI as your host was set as admin disabled.

I re-enabled it.

For site-local mirrors, what should "private" be set to for the site and host?

Yeah, I was going to suggest waiting a bit, as it takes a while to sync changes out.
