ur1.ca has become too slow, which required us to bump the timeout to make url shortening work. We should consider rewriting the respective code portion to move to another service if they can't fix the slowness.

Good idea! Just asked him in IRC, let's see what he thinks.
Any news here? or should we just not use a shortener at all?
Note also that we likely will replace sticky-notes as soon as we can...
We switched to da.gd, and it's working fine as far as I can tell...
