= phenomenon =
Currently using collectd-4.10.9-1.el6.x86_64 and a lot of fixes, updates and new features were added in later revisions. No specific bug(s) to report, just general concern for using a legacy version of code.

= implementation recommendation =
Upgrade package to latest 5.4.1 from upstream. Work required:

  1. Pull latest from upstream, or grab from EPEL
  2. Install on test node(s) to confirm base functionality
  3. Migrate custom plugins from legacy version to new version
  4. Test functionality
  5. Release to remaining backend nodes

Newest version of collectd installed from EPEL7 on new RH7 machines (log01.phx2.fedoraproject.org). Closing ticket...
