#4474 torrent.fedoraproject.org:6969 is not working for ipv6-enabled torrent-clients
Closed: Fixed None Opened 9 years ago by besser82.

= bug description =

As the title says.

= bug analysis =

Url / domain of tracker properly resolves for IPv6, but tracker gives no response.

= fix recommendation =

There should be split tracker (different url / domain) for v4 / v6.

= reason =

Since BitTorrent relies on peer-to-peer transfers, peers must use the same layer 3 protocol to talk to each other. Currently IPv6 adoption is low. If torrent.fedoraproject.org were dual stack, IPv6-enabled users would be registered to the tracker by their IPv6 address, and would only be able to peer with other IPv6 users. By publishing different torrent.fedoraproject.org (primary, v4 only) and ipv6.torrent.fedoraproject.org (secondary, v6 only) in the torrent metadata, this allows aware clients to associate with whatever stack(s) they have access to.

needs to be fixed before we can do anything about this. ;(

This should now be working.
