Kevin How I can configure trac for emit messages in irc channels via fedmsg. example #fedora-latam and #proyecto-fedora
Hi
proyectofedora.org Is a unofficial fedora domain why need trac instance?
Regards!
Is proyectofedora.org hosted on Fedora Infra? is dns records on Fedora Infra? is fedoraproyect.org a domain authorized by the board following the https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Local_community_domains guide lines?
Hosting in infrastructure, dns in infra aren't requirements for fedorahosted projects:
"Fedora Hosted is a project sponsored by the Fedora Project to allow upstream developers to host their code and collaborate online."
I don't know the status of any trademark agreement, but that would be something to file with the Fedora Board?
It has been file on Fedora Board.
I'll do the filing and take the whole legal responsibility on this regard with the board (i dont know why any other person will do a filing with the board for something they down owe but to complain about its use that it's just starting and be just handed to me).
I guess that this conflict and comments are being a consequence of some latam ambassadors wanting to rule the domain. Im planning to conduct bussines with the best effort of making the best use of such domain for the whole Spanish speaking community worlwide, not just latam ambassadors (some of them that vote).
Trademark Agreement will be discussed by me and backed by others ambassadors (worlwide) and Spanish Fedora users and the board at the proper time (we are still planning and thinking), and when the whole project is agreed between its proponents, so please stop fighting something against it, and have some patience.
the previous owner of projetofedora.org and proyectofedora.org didn't make a good use of them, I won't like to see it happening again.
proyectofedora can confuse the people because it means fedoraproject in spanish (we latam people know that).
I am one of the persons that think that this domain should be owned by fedoraproject.
I must agree with Itamar and for everybody to know and be clear, that does translate to latam ambassadors group !
Fedora Project not equal to Latam (some) Ambassadors.
By the way, echevemaster made an unfortunate and misleading mistake, this track instance requirement was not intended to be related (mapped) to latam region.
Domain in question is for Spanish speaking users only, that maps to some countries in that region, but not limited to it.
the first problem here was: proyectofedora.org was a domain owned of a person that not was longer fedora contributor Rodrigo Padula, and that given their alleged actions, not represent the interests of the Fedora community. Now is property of one of us gomix. so, what is the second problem here?. proyectofedora is the translation in spanish of "fedoraproject", as such end-users see in this web domain the official representation of the project. BUT they hope find here. "contents in spanish".
Now, there are two things that can do the spanish speakers contributors here.
Become on Infrastructure Fedora Contributor and help with the localization and deploy of the webs applications of Fedora. (tahir, ask, fedmsg, tagger, nuncier and so on) and if you have an idea for a new project, submit it to the infra team. BTW you must have some python skills there to help. Many of this applications not are known and not used for the spanish speaker due to the language (english).
AND (could be an OR)
Do localized applications or webs destinated to the end-users in a community domains (not official) .those can be developed in other languages, php, ruby, * asp.net (just kidding here). :)
Why I refer to the development languages and the localization?
First. python is the language that is used in most applications of fedora infrastructure. What happens with the contributors that not known python and just know other languages. Are infrastructure obliged to learn ruby or php just because your project is made in a language that is not managed for 100 or more contributors in infra. I think not.
Second, you have a project made in ruby php or whatever, and you want to deploy in infra. you have to write in python just because your project is not deployed in a language that is managed by most. (Here enters in action the community non-official domains)
Third. are obliged infrastructure in localize applications in spanish when they not known the spanish language and not there sufficient contributors spanish speakers there?
So, I don't see any bad point in any of the parts
Ambassadors wants (I'm one) see the domain represented by the official project and I've agreed with the redirection of the main page to the fedoraproject.org site.
BUT
there are many projects hosted in subdomains foo.proyectofedora.org that must be take into account and which are special reason for open this trac.
So, I recommend follow the guidelines in https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Local_community_domains#Self-purchased_domain and if you want collaborate with the local community and also collaborate with the infrastructure team. I'm doing that, What waiting for join?
So, this ticket is to setup a trac instance for proyectofedora infrastructure.
Fedorahosted is open to providing hosting space for any open source project. This is one. We have completed this request.
As to the domain, I've discussed with gomex some about this and he's going to write up some thoughts/proposal on how we can use this domain to the advantage of the FedoraProject and all spanish speakers. I suggest we wait for that and then everyone can provide input into the plan moving forward. This isn't the place to discuss that.
