= phenomenon =

Ensuring enough rack space is available for IBM Power hardware for the Secondary Arch infrastructure in the next years in PHX.

= background analysis =

We are currently in the process of planing new hardware for the upcoming years for the Fedora build infrastructure for Power for Secondary Arch. Several new Power7 machines were already successfully received and racked over the past year.

The current plan looks at up to 4 new boxes in the coming year.

= implementation recommendation =

In order to ensure this we advise to send back old the old and decommissioned Power5 and Power6 systems back to IBM to make room for the new machines.

Do we know size of the new boxes or any schedule for when they might appear?

Also, will we be sending back some of the existing power7 boxes (this would free up rack space).
