= bug description =
We have an embarrassing amount of spam (for example http://ask.fedoraproject.org/question/2597/are-quick-cash-loans-legitimate)
These have been ''closed'' but are not removed (''deleted'').
I recently (like, a few minutes ago) got moderator privileges. I can delete (and undelete, thankfully) perfectly legitimate posts, but when I press the delete button (which ''does'' show up) for these, nothing happens.
= bug analysis =
Three possibilities:
1) I need more privileges 2) Closed posts can't be deleted, which would be pretty silly 3) Some other askbot bug.
= fix recommendation =
If it's the first thing, can I have more, please?
If it's not that, we should have another fix because it looks really bad.
According to the docs: http://askbot.org/doc/moderation.html
"Moderators can delete any post at any time"
So, I think we hit a bug here... possibly it would be fixed in a newer version... ;(

Yeah, I think those docs apply to the newer version.
Are you an admin? If so, can you delete the bad post linked above?
yes, I am an admin, and no it will not let me delete it either. ;(
The button just does nothing. ;)
The bug ''is'' that closed questions can't be deleted. A workaround is to reopen the question and then delete it. And then after it's deleted, you can close it. (What? Yes.)
Neat.
Sounds like a good one for a upstream bug report. ;)
Anything else we can do here?
Replying to [comment:5 kevin]:
Yeah, although I kind of what to see what happens in the newest version before reporting it.
Make sure all the moderators know the work around, I guess. (Hmmm; mailing list specifically for Ask Fedora moderators?)
We have an alias 'askfedora' that goes to all the members of the 'sysadmin-ask' fas group, which was used more for when things were being setup.
I think a list could be more flexable for moderator/interested community involvement than a static alias.
Or we could try just reusing the infrastructure list or perhaps the logistics... but there may be people there who don't care.
I really want to grow this as part of community outreach — it's not directly related to my "cloud" mission, but if we don't have any users cloud won't matter. :)
Therefore, yeah. Do you want a new ticket for making a mailing list?
naw, you can just put it in here... what do you want it to be called?
Hmmm. Let me think about that for a minute. The obvious "ask-fedora" isn't good, because the list isn't for questions. Maybe "ask-fedora-meta"? "fedora-qa-site"?
Maybe someone else involved has a better idea. I've been awake for a long time today. :)
ask-moderators? ask-support?
We are holding off on a list until we hear if the new askbot 'groups' will work for this. ;)
Please re-open if you decide a mailing list is the way to go.
