#3409 Fedora Release Schedules web hosting
Closed: Fixed None Opened 11 years ago by jreznik.

Fedora Account System username: jreznik rbergero

Community or group association (if any): Fedora Program Management/FPL

Hosting type: webhosting

Space requirements for the next 6 months: 20 MB

Space requirements for the next 2 years: 40 MB (one release is approx. 2 MB but more data could be shared in the future)

Bandwidth Estimates (if known): minimal - hosting for Fedora Schedules and Schedule Calendars

Why should Fedora host this project? Currently Fedora Program managers hosts schedules and calendars on personal fedorapeople.org space. It's hard to collaborate and the location changes with every FPGM change.

What benefits does it have directly for Fedora? Fedora Schedules available in one location, that does not change over time (the link to calendar is static etc.)

What benefits does it have directly for the greater Open Source universe? Non Fedora projects can easily find our release schedules

Is this to be associated directly with a Fedora SIG or just something nice Fedora should do for another community? It's directly associated with Fedora Planning and Development

What happens to your project if this request gets denied? schedules stays on the current location, harder to find, changing over time... another possibility is to link schedule.fpo to current FPGM personal webspace (one option proposed by shaiton, still suboptimal for handover etc.)

Current schedules: http://jreznik.fedorapeople.org/schedules/

Did you want a fedorahosted instance for this? That would give you trac and git and such.

Or we could also setup a group area on fedorapeople. This would just give you raw storage space only.

Thoughts?

Any news here? Happy to setup whatever you want, but I need to know what that is. ;)

Back from vacations ;-)

After talking to Robyn, there's already fedorahosted instance for schedules - https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-project-schedule/

So the request is for raw storage and nice link to it (fpo/schedule?) only. Not sure what everything is possible :)

Well, to do fedoraproject.org directly we would need to add it into websites so it could mirror out to the proxies... which may be more work than you are looking for?

I think probibly the best place would be http://fedorapeople.org/groups/schedule/ ?
That way you (or robin or whoever you like) could update it easily.

We could possibly setup a redirect/rewrite from fedoraproject.org/schedule to there?

ok. I have setup /project/schedule/ on fedorapeople.org for you. It's owned by you and the gitfedora-project-schedule group can write to it also.

Please let us know if you need anything further.
