#2731 changing out secondary1 to new host and change secondary disks
Closed: Fixed None Opened 13 years ago by smooge.

= phenomenon =

secondary01 is currently on hardware that does not have hardware support. Moving it to other hardware is possible but would not have as much disk space available. The new fibre channel Netapp is beefy enough to handle this and more so I would like to move to using that server. Also the new dl servers are better at download items so they would be able to serve data instead of secondary.fedoraproject.org

Steps in plan
1. Get disk space for this (done)
1. Open a ticket to cover this (doing it)
1. Look through secondary puppet and figure out who I need to contact
a. mirrormanager
a. mirrors
a. secondary uploads
a. other
1. Make needed changes in workflow
1. Schedule an outage
1. Build secondary02
a. RHEL6
a. rw mount to ntap-fedora-a.storage.phx2.redhat.com:/vol/fedora_ftp/fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora-secondary
a. make it accessible to other arch teams as needed.
1. Do outage
a. DNS changes
a. shutdown secondary1
a. test workflow items
a. go/no-go

secondary02 is built and looks like it will work. I will schedule the outage to be after the F15 release. The plans will be:

  1. Do final sync of secondary01 data to NFS
  2. Do final sysnc of secondary01 home to secondary02
  3. Drop secondary01
  4. Change the mount points on all systems to point to NFS versus mount from secondary01
  5. Bring up alias interface on secondary02 to be secondary01
  6. Test the following features:
    a. Can people log into secondary01 alias from internet
    a. Can delta isos work
    a. Can rsync from mirrors work.

This work has been completed.
