#2501 What will it take to upgrade fedorahosted to RHEL6, new trac, new git?
Closed: Fixed None Opened 13 years ago by codeblock.

We've been bitten several times because we run an old Trac version on fedorahosted. We've also been bitten because our git version is quite old. A key example of this is the complexity of converting svn repos to git repos. This process is supposed to be a lot easier on newer git versions. Finally, RHEL6 is out, and sooner or later, we're going to have to upgrade to it anyway.

So, I'd like some thoughts, and over my Christmas/semester break, I'd like to see about having fedorahosted upgraded to RHEL6 before my new semester starts.

To do this, let's create a hosted01.stg (or hosted03) with RHEL6 and do some testing. Let's see how hard it is to convert our current trac instances to newer trac. Let's make sure our git hooks still work right. Let's make sure our mailing lists are still functional. And all other fedorahosted services.

For now, I'm just looking for ideas, and would like to discuss this at the meeting.

Unassigned as CodeBlock doesn't have a lot of time right now.

I'm waiting to hear back on some hardware refresh (hopefully later this week) and then I will start moving forward with the plans as discussed on the infrastructure list.
