Since he has gone back to school. I would like to be assigned to this. We want to replace the mecurial repository with git. For the time being we would support merc for F12-F14 and going git for F15.
A git repository was made (ticket #2356), you should just be able to push the source up.
As far as converting it, maybe look into something like http://hg-git.github.com/ which claims it can convert both ways.
I might be missing something here (please let me know if I am) but the git repo should be functional.
