You said that you are importing from another git repo, if the git repo is publically accessible we can import that content as part of the creation. (Or you can do it yourself).
If you want us to do it could you give us the git repo URL?

The git repo is not publicly accessible. It's only on my laptop at present.
Would it be possible to be set up with a blank one so I can push my git repo myself?

You should be able to import data as
git push ssh://git.fedorahosted.org/git/libosinfo.git/ master
