#12986 "Request is missing redirct_url" trying to login to fedoramagazine.org/wp-admin
Closed: Fixed with Explanation by sdgathman. Opened by sdgathman.

Describe what you would like us to do:

Notice the misspelling, "redirct" instead of "redirect". Is that intentional?
login url: https://id.fedoraproject.org/openidc/Authorization?response_type=code&scope=email%20profile%20openid&client_id=fedoramagazine-org&state=39d8f44631e0d5e1a96658d81b1969c8&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Ffedoramagazine.org%2Fwp-admin%2Fadmin-ajax.php%3Faction%3Dopenid-connect-authorize

Error message:

400 - Bad Request
Request is missing redirct_uri
If the error persists and if you think this is an error, contact Fedora Infra to resolve the problem.

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

Whenever - gives me an excuse not to work on my article ... :-)

Changed the spelling on login url to match error message. Same result.

There are folks in my department at Red Hat that manage the WP Engine account where the Fedora Magazine is hosted. @rlengland started an email chain with me, @misc, @duck, and @jasonbrooks about a similar issue, but @duck was not able to replicate the login issue.

Something fishy is going on, indeed!

However, I will need to lean onto @misc, @duck, and @jasonbrooks to see if we can figure out the root issue here.

Yeah, I'm hitting the same problem with community blog login here:

Sharing some context from the email chain we have going:

It looks like a possible SSO misconfiguration but I guess the URLs would not be changing unless it's really important and I did not see such announce so it could be a transient error on the SSO's side.

I cannot access the site, and neither can Máirín Duffy. We are both using SSO. Also someone else reported on the Fedora Infra ticket that the same problem is being seen for https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/wp-login.php, so I doubt whatever changed happened on both those WordPress blogs at the same time. It seems more likely that this is due to something in Fedora Infra.

I get the same behavior when I try to log in via /wp-admin with my fas account: 400 - Bad Request: Request is missing redirct_uri

Unfortunately, this is once again putting us in a situation of being unable to prepare for the Fedora Elections and publish the interviews on the current Elections schedule. I have interviews from every candidate, but I am unable to put them into the Community Blog. I'm afraid we might need to postpone the FESCo F44 elections voting start date… once more.

so I doubt whatever changed happened on both those WordPress blogs at the same time.

I had overlooked the possibility of automation. Apparently that is quite good at distributing breakage across vast spans of disparate systems. Automation is evil! 😅

Jason Brooks identified the problem as having originated from an auto-updated plugin: https://github.com/oidc-wp/openid-connect-generic/issues/591#issuecomment-3651693335

@duck hotpatched the plugin, it should work now (and work for me and him).

Works for me now.
