#11632 Request for domain names for OpenScanHub
Closed: Fixed with Explanation a year ago by kevin. Opened a year ago by svashisht.

Describe what you would like us to do:

I would like to request for the domain names for staging and production instances of OpenScanHub. My current idea is to use these names:

staging.openscanhub.fedoraincloud.org - Staging deployment
openscanhub.fedoraincloud.org - Production deployment

Does the Fedora project has a naming convention that we should follow for the staging domain name?

I would provide the details of mapping the domain names to the ip addresses later.

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

asap

Hi, the naming scheme is using stg for staging and it's more like this:
openscanhub.stg.fedorainfracloud.org - Staging deployment
openscanhub.fedorainfracloud.org - Production deployment

Also, it's fedorainfracloud.org not fedoraincloud.org IIRC

We would need details for the IPs to fufill this request.
Also, a lot of people are away at the moment (US Thanksgiving)

Ok, in that case I would use:

openscanhub.stg.fedorainfracloud.org - Staging deployment
openscanhub.fedorainfracloud.org - Production deployment

Thanks for the suggestions. Please hold this ticket until I have created a working staging and production deployment.

@svashisht Is there any progress on this? Can this be closed or is there more work to do?

I have not done the staging and production deployments yet, so this issue should be kept on hold.

There was a suggestion by @kevin to use openscanhub.fedoraproject.org instead of openscanhub.fedorainfracloud.org. I do not have a strong opinion about which domain to use and would prefer to use the one which makes better sense from user point of view.

I have only deployed to staging for now, and there is a container running there with name fedora-osh-hub and port 8080. It should be mapped to either one of these domain names:

openscanhub.stg.fedorainfracloud.org
openscanhub.stg.fedoraproject.org

If the mapping is successful, it should bring this page[1]. I have not deployed to production yet, so mapping to production should be done later.

I think we should just use fedoraproject.org/stg.fedoraproject.org. It's more clear and it's easier to integrate things.

To do that we need:

  • a dns entry for those pointing to our iad2 proxies (proxy01/proxy10)

  • a playbooks/includes/proxy-websites entry for them saying that it's an openshift app

That should be it. I can just look at doing this next week/later today, or someone else could if they want to submit a PR.
(I am on PTO monday, so if not today then tuesday)

PR: https://pagure.io/fedora-infra/ansible/pull-request/1806
DNS updated.

Right now it's going to need a freeze break because we are in beta freeze. But if we don't get one, we can land it after...

I'll go ahead and close this and we can track it in the PR. Feel free to re-open if you see any further items I missed.
