We want to enable some sort of push or near push functionality on the mirrors.
Some steps (such as the fullfilelist) bits will be in place for Fedora 11. This may be sufficient to eliminate the need for full pushing. We will see.
Didn't get done before F11. Will want before F12.
Not looking good for F12. Pushing to F13.
This is a very old ticket. If this is still desired, can we get a more complete description? The original description mentions a solution rather than a problem. I'd like to see the original problem, and if the solution has indeed been decided on and is still valid, more requirements surrounding that solution.
So, not fully 'push' but we do have something very related this to this ticket that needs doing:
We now have fedmsg's for:
We need to create a document (wiki page) that describes how you can query for the last versions of each of these messages and then sync. Our mirrors could then use this to only sync after content has actually changed.
You should be able to use datagrepper: https://apps.fedoraproject.org/datagrepper/ and simple url queries to get this info.
Is writing up such a wiki page something you could do for us?
We have now a nice setup with fedora-quick-mirror and so we are going to close this now.
