#11197 genesisadaptive.com mirrors fail more often than not
Closed: Fixed a year ago by kevin. Opened a year ago by rwf.

(Apologies if this isn't the right place to report this.)

The vast majority of DNF runs from IPv6-capable hosts result in errors like this:

Downloading Packages:
[MIRROR] kernel-6.1.18-200.fc37.x86_64.rpm: Curl error (56): Failure when receiving data from the peer for http://mirror.genesisadaptive.com/fedora/linux/updates/37/Everything/x86_64/Packages/k/kernel-6.1.18-200.fc37.x86_64.rpm [Recv failure: Connection reset by peer]
[MIRROR] kernel-core-6.1.18-200.fc37.x86_64.rpm: Curl error (56): Failure when receiving data from the peer for http://mirror.genesisadaptive.com/fedora/linux/updates/37/Everything/x86_64/Packages/k/kernel-core-6.1.18-200.fc37.x86_64.rpm [Recv failure: Connection reset by peer]
[MIRROR] kernel-modules-6.1.18-200.fc37.x86_64.rpm: Curl error (56): Failure when receiving data from the peer for http://mirror.genesisadaptive.com/fedora/linux/updates/37/Everything/x86_64/Packages/k/kernel-modules-6.1.18-200.fc37.x86_64.rpm [Recv failure: Connection reset by peer]

This happens for all of the various genesisadaptive.com mirrors, has been for months (if not years, at this point), and DNF doesn't always recover gracefully. Trying to fetch the same URLs individually usually works, so my guess is that they have some kind of absurdly low parallel connection rate limiting in place, maybe some confused middlebox that has separate v4/v6 settings.

Between that and their equally persistent stale mirrors -- particularly mirror.atl.genesisadaptive.com -- these seem to be of questionable benefit, if not actively harmful. Their web site is also badly broken, and attempts to reach them directly have gone unanswered. Can these be dropped from the mirror list?

I've mailed the admin contact and asked them to take a look here.

While we wait... Here's a fresh set of examples, featuring a mix of connection resets and 404s coming from mirror.atl.genesisadaptive.com, vs. clean 404s from the other mirror that hasn't caught up yet.

I have disabled this host. It should drop out in an hour or two.

I still haven't heard anything from the mirror admins. ;(

As soon as they fix things it can be re-added.

Thanks for the report.
