#10748 Renaming my autogenerated gitlab fedora user name doesn't work
Closed: Fixed with Explanation 2 years ago by pboy. Opened 2 years ago by pboy.

When I first tried to log in to gitlab.com/fedora using my FAS account it autogenerated my as pboy1. But that time the login didn't complete and didn't work for me.

Now it works and apparently recurses to that old account I tried months ago. I want to get rid of the added number to my FAS name, edited my profile and followed the procedure. But I'm still on pboy1.

I know, it is really not the most urgent issue. But I really hate this anonymous autonumbering I always associate with highly dubious websites and groups which I want absolutely nothing to do with.

Would be nice it you could change my account name or help me to do it.

And I need or preserve membership with the docs group.

hmmm, i think that unless you are the owner of this account:

https://gitlab.com/PBOY

you will not be able to get the pboy username on gitlab.

With your Fedora Account, you are just linking it to an exisiting GitLab account. To do this, first log in with your gitlab account, then go to this link to link it with your Fedora Account:

https://gitlab.com/groups/fedora/-/saml/sso

Oh, thanks, I remember. We decided with our project those days for github. Hopefully I'll find my credentials.
