#10623 ask.fp.o rejects auth from Red Hat internal network due to too many requests from the same IP
Closed: Fixed 2 years ago by kevin. Opened 2 years ago by kparal.

Describe what you would like us to do:

I have a report from @zdohnal that he couldn't log in to https://ask.fedoraproject.org yesterday using his Fedora account, it said that there were too many requests from that IP already. He was connecting from Red Hat's internal network (Brno office). Today, he could connect just fine from his home.

It seems there's some rate limiting in place, but it's not aware of our internal networks IP ranges and then rejects Red Hatters. I wonder whether this is Ask-specific (because it is externally hosted perhaps?) or a general problem. But Zdenek said he can connect to Bodhi, Copr etc just fine, it's just Ask that rejected him.

Can you please look into this issue and bump/remove Ask limits for RH internal network ranges? Thanks.

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

@mattdm do you have any ability to adjust this setting?

This isn't a setting I can control from my side, as it's at the ngnix level on the hosting provider, apparently. So I will file a support ticket.

@kparal or @zdohnal, do you know the IP address that you were coming from when this occurred?

@mattdm I've sent the IP to you via email - ftr I've recalled there could be wifi+vpn in the game as well, so I'll try to reproduce tomorrow when I'm at the office with only ethernet connection.

Now I can log in from the office - maybe it was really an issue when both connections - ethernet and wifi+vpn - were active...

So, I guess this is all ok now? Please re-open if you see it again...
