#230 Move " Disk Encryption User Guide" from wiki to quick-docs
Closed: duplicate a year ago by pboy. Opened 4 years ago by jflory7.

Recently I was working with encrypted disks on Fedora and my search results brought me to this wiki page:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Disk_Encryption_User_Guide

It was pretty helpful, even though I only used a narrow subset of what is published there. It would be great to get this moved in the Quick Docs site and set up a wiki page redirect to include that content along with the rest of the Quick Docs content!

@jflory7 I can pick this up. Could you assign it to me?

Hi @pbokoc, please review this #241 Created "Disk Encryption User Guide" quick-docs

@jflory7 @t0xic0der : We should've checked this before @t0xic0der did all the work:

i see that the wiki page was update in April, so it's quite actively maintained. I think it'll be a good idea to reach out to the writers of the wiki page to confirm that they're happy with updating the quick-docs page instead of the wiki? Otherwise we end up with an up to date wiki page, and an outdated quick-doc.

@ankursinha As a matter of fact, I see a LUKS encryption adoc already existing here in the articles but it has not been updated since long. Wiki is an entirely different story though.

Does this still have to be completed?

I think there's #241 with an initial draft, but yes, this one still needs completion.

Can you please assign and link me to wiki?

Assigned, here's the wiki page: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Disk_Encryption_User_Guide

Can you also please take a look at the work already done in #241 and incorporate it too where possible?

I believe that the file can be closed. The #241 is still a direct copy of
the Wiki, it looks like no additional changes have been made.

Cool. Would it be easier for you if we merge that PR and then you review it and make modifications, or would you prefer to start from scratch?

I think starting from scratch would be good, I can move it over and get
practice with a new document like that. What method is used to submit the
new document?

Cool, sounds good. I'll close that PR now.

The new document is also added via a pull request, so same process as editing existing pages.

I close this ticket because obviously everything is done, and no additional action required nor on the way.

If there is still something to do, please don't hesitate to create a new ticket with a plan revised accordingly.
