1.The desktop environments specified in the image are no longer those provided by fedora , please update the image (for some reason grouplist -v doesn't show the pantheon de , which is a different issue ) dnf gouplist -v works
2.In the switching with cli section , i think the first link should not display the file name and just installing-desktop-environments is enough .
3.In /etc/sysconfig/desktop i am unable to verify f the value system works , when i intitally opened the file , it had paths specified instead of values ie DISPLAY MANAGER =path to dm
@ankursinha If this is still required, I'll take this because I'm already testing various DE for the issue #521

Need to replace screen dump with the following.
$ dnf group list --available *desktop Available Environment Groups: [...] Desktop
Overlaying DE isn't a good idea, overall. Installing KDE onto GNOME has known issues like configuration conflicts.

I installed i3 onto KDE and entering password on login screen didn't work. We can't expect users to choose right display manager.
Each DE added has meta packages and core apps, which may interfere with the default DE. We should rather inform users to try out Spins.

#180 "Switching desktop environments" will be on backlog until I clear #521 and #518
The article needs to be rewritten with use cases, which I can't find.
OS version tested: RHEL 9.1 installed locally (not VM)
1) GNOME to KDE
I tried installing KDE into the default GNOME DE with the following command. $ sudo dnf groupinstall "KDE Plasma Workspaces"
Six different errors prompted on terminal... Error: Problem 1: package plasma-discover-notifier-5.23.5-2.el9.x86_64 requires libDiscoverNotifiers.so()(64bit), but none of the providers can be installed - conflicting requests - nothing provides libAppStreamQt.so.2()(64bit) needed by plasma-discover-libs-5.23.5-2.el9.x86_64 (...) Problem 6: package ffmpegthumbs-22.12.0-1.el9.x86_64 requires libavfilter.so.8()(64bit), but none of the providers can be installed
2) GNOME to Xfce Mostly okay but some apps (Xfce screen capture) do not work.
I'm afraid we can't use RHEL as a testing ground for Fedora bits---the package versions are vastly different. So, if it doesn't work on RHEL does not mean that it does not work on Fedora or vice versa. :(
The way switching works is:
groupinstall
So, if moving from Gnome to XFCE doesn't work, that depends on how XFCE was installed alongside Gnome. DEs should not conflict, but they can---also bugs that should be filed for the particular DE packages.
ok fair enough. But in my daily driver Fedora KDE (Scientific labs), when I installed i3 onto KDE, entering password on login screen didn't work. I don't feel adventurous to try GNOME in KDE.
RHEL was used for EPEL installation actually. I digressed.
PR created here.
