Excellent first issue for someone looking to get started with a simple task.
Hi, I am an Outreachy applicant. Can I contribute to this issue?
Hi, even though the Outreachy selection process is over now, as a general rule, you can work on any open issue unless it's already assigned to someone (see the Assignee field on the right).
Hi docs team, I would like to do a quick refresh on this one. I believe it is still relevant as presumably, a newcomer to Fedora may want to understand how to get Chrome/Chromium.
My proposed changes; 1. Remove the "converted from Wiki" caution. 2. Revise the description of Chrome and Chromium to be clearer about what each is. I assume any reader knows what Chrome is (or else why would they be reading the article?), but I don't think the distinction between Chrome and Chromium is clear. 3. Remove the note about the old Copr repository - Chromium has been in the official repos for 4+ years; anybody who has been using Fedora for 4+ years is not the target audience for this quick-doc. 4a. Confirm/validate the install instructions re Chromium. 4b. Replace the Chrome install instructions to include the third-party repo in Fedora since F27 (https://fedoramagazine.org/third-party-repositories-fedora/) 5. Remove the references to Flash plugins. AFAIK Flash has been removed from Chromium; in any case, friends don't let friends use Flash :) 6. Remove the Additional Resources as once is a circular reference to the Wiki, and the other is about Flash. Thoughts? couchfox

Hi docs team, Per the comment above I have done a significant update to the chrome/chromium quick-doc. Please see PR#326. In addition to the changes described above to bring the article up to date, I have removed the whole section that refers to copying the Widevine Content Decryption Module plugin from the Chrome rpm to Chromium. Using the previous instructions hasn't worked for a long time. I researched the issue, it appears there is no simple and reliable way to add Widevine to Chromium any longer (but a few references to how outdated the quick-doc is!) https://www.reddit.com/r/Fedora/comments/9a8h92/how_to_use_widevine_with_chromium_67_in_fedora_28/ https://ask.fedoraproject.org/t/installing-widevine-for-chromium/2263 https://ask.fedoraproject.org/t/need-help-fixing-fedora-chromium-install-docs/4045/6 ...etc. My proposal in the PR is simply to suggest the use of Chrome if people need non-free codecs+DRM. That being the case, my PR removes the whole section related to Chromium plug-ins, as the current version's plug-in section refers only to two plug-ins; Widevine is the first, and Adobe Flash is the other, which is no longer available. Therefore, that section and the related _partial doc are no longer required. I hope that all makes sense!
Thanks @couchfox. I can take a look at this later this week.
Nowadays, to use Chromium to play Netflix etc., one can install chromium-freeworld from RPM Fusion, which is built with the proprietary bits enabled. Do you think this is worth including in the doc?

Hey @ankursinha I agree - have made some additional commits now reflected in PR#326.
Fixed in #326.
