When doing system upgrades, there seem to be problems with modularity regularly. I remember some problems when upgrading from F30 to F31 and now for F31 to F32 I get:
Problem 1: conflicting requests - nothing provides module(platform:f31) needed by module gimp:2.10:3120191106095052:f636be4b-0.x86_64 Problem 2: conflicting requests - nothing provides module(platform:f31) needed by module ripgrep:latest:3120190803131619:22d7e2a5-0.x86_64
According to #fedora on Freenode, others saw similar problems. https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/modularity/using-modules/ does not cover system upgrades and https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/dnf-system-upgrade/ also does not talk about special steps. I did not do anything special regarding modules on the system as far as I remember except for installing packages with yum install, so this seems to be common scenario IMHO.
Yes, this is quite common. That's why we have proposed following Change that should make system upgrade seamless: https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=Changes/Module_Obsoletes_and_EOL
