in reference to https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fedora/f31/install-guide/install/Preparing_for_Installation/#sect-preparing-boot-media

i trust rufus, it worked for fedora 30. should have more instructions on how to use rufus. obviously applicable for windows users only.

will test rufus for fedora 31. hoping things improved, although there is no evidence or source. and I can switch to it. but its impossible to find out the relevant info after looking for a long time.

i will consider testing using the media writer if its source code was provided.

once software for searching for information is created, searching for relevant info by asking people will be a thing of the past.

for people on windows using it with standar user account, use your admin account or enter the password for admin account at the UAC prompt.

the latter should be safe, I think.

can't edit above comment, so I searched for it and decided to click on a github link, hopefully its first post answers my question and raises many more.

https://github.com/pbatard/rufus/issues/757 , it does not say where the code is, but the behaviour is not unusual. it got me off guard, because I'm just trying this standard user on Windows thing. which is a major pain, its like using linux, having to type sudo this sudo that for no reason, other than superstition.

@odarpo I believe the sources to Media Writer are here: https://github.com/FedoraQt/MediaWriter

We're recommending this tool because it's closely related to Fedora. I don't think there's a point in documenting another GUI tool, if someone wants to use rufus, they can, but FMW is the recommended way and our docs already provide an alternative (dd on Linux).
