#187 support URLs without locale embedded
Opened 2 years ago by duffy. Modified 2 years ago

The link to the f35 docs is

https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fedora/f35/

If I attempt to visit https://docs.fedoraproject.org/fedora/f35/ I get a 404. I would expect to be redirected to the f35 docs in the default language. There is a locale selector on the page so this would be an improved experience.

This would be helpful so that we could point to the exact document needed - the landing page at docs.fpo is very busy and having to rely on that as the "docs" link forces the user to hunt down the doc needed instead of being able to just directly point at the doc without knowing the user's locale.

This would also facilitate a better google ranking, decreasing the likelihood of ending up at legacy Docs pages.

I am for it, too. Additionlly, I'm not familiar with Antora, but all CMS's I know are able to check the Browser and guess the most likely language. And otherwise there is the language selector.
