What kind of people do you expect to attend?
Mostly students from UTA, may have heard of Fedora and some teachers too. We're leaving it open to the public.
What do you plan to cover in the agenda for your FWD event?
Are there any questions you have for the D&I Team?
Will swag have to be shipped?
Anything you want us to know?
The first of it's kind in Dallas :)
Stickers (different variety 5 of each maybe): $30.00 USD
FINAL TOTAL: 100 USD
Hi @algogator, thanks for proposing this FWD in Arlington! :tada: I am tentatively +1, but I have a couple of questions as well.
@algogator said… How to get involved - I might talk about my GSoC experience with Fedora
I think your personal GSoC experience would be a great topic to include.
@algogator said… Mini Hackfest on the easy fix issues
Just curious, what kind of things did you have in mind to promote? Things from the easyfix page or other issues?
@algogator said… Swag (T Shirts/stickers/hoodies) : $50.00 USD
Did you plan to self-produce this swag on your own or receive some from Fedora / D&I Team? For some of these items, we should be able to support you. Definitely with stickers, but I'm not sure about t-shirts or hoodies. My personal recommendation is to avoid self-producing swag if we can help it.
@bex, could you clarify what items are or are not available for an event ticket like this, other than stickers?
In the meanwhile, consider these points while you plan your event:
We plan to share a resource pack with FWD event organizers in early September.
The resource pack will include information on Fedora editions / objectives, content on Fedora <3 Python, and more. Once available, we encourage you to make use of it for your event.
Please promote different ways to get involved and participate in the Fedora community.
When promoting the Fedora community, we encourage you to include other opportunities to contribute across Fedora. A great resource is whatcanidoforfedora.org. An overview of the different Fedora sub-projects is helpful to include. We plan to include other suggestions for this in the resource pack.
Please collect participation metrics about the number of attendees and other information you think is useful.
We want to better understand how FWD events impact the local communities and Fedora. At a minimum, please note the number of attendees at your event. Other numbers may be useful depending on your event.
Some suggestions are…

RE: Swag - we can send stickers and pens. I discourage producing shirts/hoodies for these events without that having been centrally planned. We should push that to next year and give lead time on that.
Yep and maybe even Fedora Happiness Packets
I was hoping you would be able to ship, everyone loves t-shirts, it but it's OK maybe next year :)
I found a speaker today, Sushmitha interned at RedHat this summer, so she's happy to talk about her experience working with AICoE
@algogator thanks for the ticket. Please ask for swags (stickers and pens) in advance, how many do you need. So that they can be shipped timely.
+1 for this event.
Just the stickers will do! 50 different stickers (5 of each)
+1 from me as well. @algogator please don't forget the points that Justin mentioned, especially the metrics part because it is very important for us to better understand the impact of the FWD. Good luck with the event mentee and feel free to reach out to us if you have any question or need help. 😄

@jflory7 @jonatoni @bee2502 Sorry to bring this up last minute, is the week after, around 28th too late?

Changing the date is fine. Please update the original ticket comment with the final date if it changes.
Some other FWD events are held in early October. Use your best judgment on when to organize the event for your audience. This also buys a little more time to get swag shipments sorted out. :grinning:
According to https://pagure.io/mindshare/issue/32 , we need to send mail to bex (Brian Exelbierd bexelbie@redhat.com) in order to get the swags/stickers for the Fedora Women Day event.
I request organizers who need to get these swags and stickers to please mail Brian Exelbierd bexelbie@redhat.com asap in order to get them timely.
@amsharma I've sent an email to Bex
Shipment has been requested.

Hi – are there any updates on the Arlington FWD?
Hey, everyone, we're planning to postpone it to Nov 3
Metadata Update from @jflory7: - Issue tagged with: needs report
@jflory7 I could not organize the event. @bex If you could send me an address I can ship back the swag.
I can try organizing something for Women's day next month, if not I think we can close this ticket.
I encourage you to try to hold the event next month and if not, contact me offline about the swag please.
