What kind of people do you expect to attend?
The event is at Rochester Institute of Technology where the audience will be students. Specifically they will most likely be computing students that are new to open source.
What do you plan to cover in the agenda for your FWD event?
We intend to start with a talk on what open source is in general. This event is being done in collaboration with the Women in Computing (WiC) organization at RIT, so we will be covering the various projects that WiC has worked on and has open sourced. We also want to cover git and GitHub because that understanding is often needed to make a contribution to open source. Our goal is to give attendees a basic introduction to open source and enable them to get involved with open source projects with the WiC organization.
Are there any questions you have for the D&I Team?

Please let me know if I can assist with this event. I would be willing to speak or provide other assistance.
I am +1 to this event proposal, even though I am involved as an event organizer.
At the Fedora Flock conference last week, @riecatnor expressed interest in giving a talk and Q&A session on Outreachy and possibly other non-code topics about the Fedora community.
@cprofitt It's also good to know you are interested and available to help for FWD! I'll bring this up in our organizer group chat and we'll be in touch with more information soon.

+1 thanks for the ticket. Take pictures and collect the presentations if possible. Thanks for the ticket :)
+1 from me as well. Thanks for the proposal @gen1e @jflory7 and good luck with the event
Given the above comments, I will mark this event as approved. I hope we can collaborate with @cprofitt and @riecatnor for our event as well. :grinning:
I've shared this feedback in other tickets so far, so I will repeat it here too. In the meanwhile, consider these points while planning the event:
We plan to share a resource pack with FWD event organizers in early September.
The resource pack will include information on Fedora editions / objectives, content on Fedora <3 Python, and more. Once available, we encourage you to make use of it for your event.
Please promote different ways to get involved and participate in the Fedora community.
When promoting the Fedora community, we encourage you to include other opportunities to contribute across Fedora. A great resource is whatcanidoforfedora.org. An overview of the different Fedora sub-projects is helpful to include. We plan to include other suggestions for this in the resource pack.
Please collect participation metrics about the number of attendees and other information you think is useful.
We want to better understand how FWD events impact the local communities and Fedora. At a minimum, please note the number of attendees at your event. Other numbers may be useful depending on your event.

@jflory7 +1, I would be happy to attend, participate and share my experiences with Outreachy and Fedora. I have contacted the Outreachy coordinators to hopefully get some approved resources, and I have some things I can put together for the Fedora design aspect already :)
According to https://pagure.io/mindshare/issue/32 , we need to send mail to bex (Brian Exelbierd bexelbie@redhat.com) in order to get the swags/stickers for the Fedora Women Day event.
I request organizers who need to get these swags and stickers to please mail Brian Exelbierd bexelbie@redhat.com asap in order to get them timely.

Thanks!!
Metadata Update from @jflory7: - Issue tagged with: needs report
I'm a co-organizer for this ticket, so I will work on this too, but for consistency's sake, I'll repeat the comment posted to other tickets below:
Thank you for organizing your FWD event! On behalf of the Fedora D&I team, we hope it was a success. :tada: We have two updates for you:
To close out your FWD event, please write an event report no more than three weeks from your FWD event date. Your event report should be published on the Fedora Community Blog, but a personal blog is also acceptable. Don't forget to include one to three pictures! :camera:
The Community Blog uses WordPress, so you can write and draft your article on the Community Blog site. If you need help, please reach out in this ticket.
Note: An event report is required to receive reimbursement for your event.
Once your event report is published and you share a link to it in this ticket, you can request reimbursement for your event. To request reimbursement, open an issue here:
https://pagure.io/fedora-budget/new_issue
@bex will work with you to reimburse the costs of your event. Remember to save all original receipts for your event expenses.
See more information on the event reimbursement process.

@gen1e published the event report and opened a private ticket for reimbursement. From my understanding, the organizational work for this FWD event is complete.

Thanks @gen1e for the help on organizing this, and thanks @riecatnor @cprofitt for coming out as our guest speakers for the event! :tada:
