#2 Update the Fedora Logo Pride variation
Opened 2 years ago by riecatnor. Modified 2 years ago

Please update the pride logo variation from https://pagure.io/design/issue/683
It would be great if we could get this one soon to use during Pride month.
Thank you!

Hi @madelinepeck thanks for working on this! the new fedora blue against the top pink band looks dark, maybe try making the logo the tiniest bit smaller to reduce the clash between those colors?

Oh, I love option D!!! Could we do a white tint over the stripes to make them lighter, like C and E are desaturated/have a black shade over the colors? Or would it be less clear it's the rainbow

So many choices! From the first panel I am partial to B and D. From the second I am leaning towards the F/G. The B & F options look pretty much good to go imo if we went that way. I agree the D version needs some contrast but I am not sure how to fix that one.

Which are you both leaning towards? @duffy @madelinepeck

@riecatnor I know there are so many! I like D, B & A from the first panel, and for the second one I agree F and G are my favorites and very readable. I like the second panel the most
What about you @duffy

Playing with the tints on D doesn't seem to help too much I'm afraid although it was a good idea to try:

I am the most comfortable with I and G. I think we could use either/or depending on the application / background color. Would these be ok to move forward with?

Also I think it would be helpful to know the applications bc what we use might shift depending eg see these

What are the primary artifacts being produced here

We've had a request to update the twitter icon for the month, so that's one. I'd also love to have a t-shirt, and perhaps an enamel pin.h

I'd like to see the colors for trans folks included as well.

And for whatever it's worth, I think H is my favorite. I do kind of like the soft-fade pastel first variant of D, though.

The above should cover twitter.

Re: enamel pin, we need to talk to a vendor to see what kind of specs are available on the colors; this is a lot and not sure that, for example, the blended spectrum is possible in that format nor the number of colors in the space at that scale. Do we have a vendor we use for these?

Re: T-shirt I'd suggest a white fedora logo on a rainbow tie dye?

This isn't going to read with all colors thrown into one gradient inside the logo - I tried and it doesn't work, except for the style @madelinepeck posted where the gradient is behind the blue+white logo, but in small applications that wont work and readability is an issue (esp since the blue on the trans flag is the same as the logo blue.) It appears that most brands doing this are sticking with the basic rainbow for the logo and working the additional colors into the supporting artwork (e.g. the background banner on twitter) So thats the approach I took here.

I do not think though one logo is going to be able to hold all these colors on its own. One idea would be to have two flags crisscrossed under the basic fedora logo on the pin. But we'll need additional elements to accomodate everything

Unfortunately I am in between two week-long leaves right now due to bereavement, and we're mid month anyway, I do not have any additional cycles to explore any more on this. I am happy to share my source with anyone who is able to, and happy to finish off any of the selections for what I produced above to be used

I like TB2 and TB3 offhand, but honestly I'd be happy with anyone of them. Thank you so much for your help on this Mo, and please take your time off and not worry about these things for a while!

Hi @duffy that makes sense about adding in all of the colors. The twitter banners look really great and help cover that.

For the TB versions, I am leaning towards TB3.

I would like to use 2 from https://pagure.io/fedora-design/new-logo/issue/2#comment-737992 to update the Pride telegram profile pic if that is okay.

Thanks for working on this!

@riecatnor of course 👍 from a logo maintainer perspective im comfortable with any of the above including @madelinepeck 's updates - I didnt mean to swoop in here, I just wanted to provide some leeway / additional flexibility with the logo here that the old logo didn't allow. hope that was clear and if it wasnt this makes it so. i am not firing on all cylinders atm.

Hey @duffy would you be able to share the svg files of any of the pride logo variations you had for these? As pride month approaches I was working on some little fedora pride art for potential swag or whatever necessary
