The XFCE spins page (https://fedoraproject.org/spins/xfce) still references Abiword, but it is not installed by default nor is it in the Live CD.

I noticed it was built/is available in F42 so I was hoping we could just re-add it to make the spins page accurate and provide a writer that doesn't take much space.

I didn't realize that it was back... it got orphaned I think at one point and dropped...

@nonamedotc ok with you?

@seaninspace can you also do a 'make sort' here? (or just move it before the other entry)

@kevin done, thanks for taking a look

Yea, I was pleasantly surprised that it was still available :)

It does look like development got picked up again, there's a 3.0.6 release from here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/AbiWord

I see there are maintainers for it in Fedora (https://packages.fedoraproject.org/pkgs/abiword/abiword/), but I'm happy to help keep this going/maintain it.

I am fine with this.

That said, I really think we should move to libreoffice suite. I know we try to keep the size down but would we rather not provide a fully function office suite? As such, we can just include -writer and -calc (+ dependencies). That should keep the size still reasonable.

I mean, if it's not too late to get into F42 I am happy to switch things to lo-writer :) I've created an XFCE ISO with kiwi and https://pagure.io/fedora-kiwi-descriptions/. Replacing abiword/gnumeric with lo-writer/calc bumped up the XFCE Rawhide ISO to 2.3 GB

That seems to be lower than the Workstation limit as described here (I couldn't find a maximum size of the XFCE spin specifically): https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/releases/f41/blocking/.

If that's acceptable I can also update the XFCE spin page to specify lo-writer/calc.

Yeah, it's whatever we say it is... So, sure, if you want to switch f42/43 to libreoffice thats fine with me.
