#89 Localization and Zanata Metrics
Closed: Insufficient data 6 years ago Opened 7 years ago by bee2502.

There are plans for localization metrics by Fedora l10N team.

The proposal for these metrics by zoltan and jean-baptiste holcroft is here :

Also relevant resources for some existing metrics are :

From my understanding, this is a ticket that will require some patience since we're waiting for things like fedmsg support via Zanata webhooks in the future. I believe @aeng is working or following this.

It looks like there really is a lot of explanation and detail for the metrics wished for on this wiki page, but perhaps it might be useful for planning if some of the G11N team shared any other thoughts that might not be on that wiki page? It might help shape the direction of future data crunching if we had some of this background context. In either case, I want to bring everyone in on this topic so we are all on the same page going forward.

@aeng @pravins @noriko @jibecfed (and feel free to tag any other G11N team members I might have missed here), but do any of you have thoughts on ideas or wishes for metric collection on G11N work or contributors?

The idea was to integrate with Fedora Hub on those statistics using webhook.
https://zanata.atlassian.net/browse/ZNTA-1101

If you require some custom filtering on statistics, we got API for individual's activity/stats,
e.g. https://fedora.zanata.org/rest/stats/user/aeng/2016-09-11..2016-09-17

@jflory7 the content of this wiki page is still a work in progress, but main ideas are present. I have to make a survey with some Language Team Coordinators to validate it as a L10N roadmap.

I contacted Stephen John Smoogen, he sent me some very interesting web statistics, if you have a way to extract and save this data on a monthly basis, it would be a great help.
Next steps would be:
add other data sources,
plug this to a tool to generate graphics, trends and stuff like this.

@jibecfed @aeng Following up on this - Do we have any updates regarding Zanata statistics ? Are you still looking for help with metrics for zanata ?

I think right now, we should evaluate what/how FedoraHub will display the statistics before we making any more changes.

I agree, let's see what we get in Fedora Hub.
Anyway, I'm sure there will still be much to do related to statistics, only to answer "where are we now".

Hi all – given the above feedback from @aeng and @jibecfed, and also noting that this ticket is over a year old, I think it makes sense to revisit this topic from a fresh start when it comes up again later. I understand that some (but not all) of the technical blockers are resolved, but it also seems like the Hubs team has done some research here and plans to incorporate a basic measure of statistics into Hubs.

If / when we want to revisit this in the future, let's reopen it as a new ticket.
