#7 Fedora Elections and CommOps Coverage
Closed: Fixed None Opened 8 years ago by jflory7.

We've been discussing the upcoming Fedora Elections across the mailing list and how we are intending to help provide coverage of the events in a variety of ways (metrics (?), interviews with candidates via the CommBlog, etc.).

To help centralize the discussion about this and organize a clear plan of action, I thought a ticket might be a good way to drive the discussion as well as provide a jumping off point for our meetings, as we are intending to move towards ticket-based meeting styles in our near future.

As far as I know, this is largely being spearheaded jointly by decause and bee2502.

Replying to [ticket:7 jflory7]:

Elections Timeline : https://fedorapeople.org/groups/schedule/f-23/f-23-elections.html
Elections Wiki Page : https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Elections
November/December 2015 will see elections for FAmSCo,FESCo, Council as well as Env and Stacks WG seats.

As you can see, the Nomination period will start shortly and before that we need to :
1.Update the Election wiki page.(Done)
2.Update the Nomination wiki pages for FAmSCo/FESCo/Council/Env and Stacks(Done)
3.Prepare a questionnaire to be asked to nominated candidates during Campaign period. These interviews will go on to be published in Fedora Magazine/CommBlog.(Ongoing)
You can take help from the past years questionnaire available here : https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Elections/Questionnaire

This constitutes most of the work till the end of the Nomination period. Other tasks will take shape during Campaign period(Taking Candidate Interviews - Editing and Publishing them to Fedora Magazine/CommBlog)

Also jflory7 mentioned about Election-oriented metrics tasks :
Here are some of the questions I think we should ask :http://etherpad.osuosl.org/fedora-election-metrics
Any thoughts , inputs , suggestions , new election-related metrics questions are welcome.
Note : Add the new metrics-related questions you think we should ask on the etherpad and if possible, also include how we could collect the corresponding data to answer the questions

If someone wants to be involved with actually wrangling the data/analytics stuff, contact me on # fedora-commops

Fedora Elections are coming full force, and the CommBlog is [https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/category/elections/ hopping with Interview activity]! The Elections are also bringing notable traffic to the CommBlog.

Reassigning this to Bee as she has done an excellent job with keeping on top of this and kicking serious butt with bringing the candidates to the blog. :)

Discussed in meeting 2015-12-08.

'''Result''': Elections coverage is still relevant and an ongoing process. Candidate interviews just finished and now we're in the voting period. Goal is to publish wrap-up of interviews to push out and promote across Project to provide singular place to refer to candidate interviews.

Intention is to keep this ticket live until the voting period ends and official results of the new elected officials are announced (hopefully on the CommBlog)!

Discussed in meeting 2015-12-15.

'''Result''': Elections coverage is almost complete. bee2502 and jkurik are going to work together on preparing a wrap-up post covering metrics about the past Elections cycle, e.g. voter turnout from last Election compared to this, and more.

Once this article is published, this ticket can be closed. Aiming for a "completion" date by the end of this week.

As discussed in meeting 2015-12-15, a new CommOps ticket has been created for post election tasks still awaiting completion.

The Election cycle has ended, and our coverage for this cycle has also ended. Great work to everyone involved, this was the fourth most participated in election in Fedora history! Woohoo!

Stay posted for the next Election cycle.
