#227 Survey for Community Experience for Outreachy 2021 Applicants/Participants
Closed: stale 15 days ago by jflory7. Opened 2 years ago by t0xic0der.

It is very important to put ourselves in the shoes of the Outreachy applicants/participants to understand their experience with the community. As we have always tried to ensure that the applicants/participants stay back as potential contributors after the participatory contribution period gets over, we also need to understand what makes them motivated about Fedora, the reasons behind picking Fedora Project over other mentoring organizations, how quickly were they assigned tasks to work on, how relevantly were their questions answered and so on.

The best way to do so would be organizing a survey to ask these questions and request the applicants/participants to be as honest, accurate and detailed as they can be with their answers. Their responses can potentially help us become a better mentoring organization down-the-line and be able to retain more number of potential contributors from the set of applicants/participants. With this in mind, I have created a draft survey that could use some review which you can find here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8MSYYFR.

The questions have been listed in the HackMD note as well, so feel free to make changes wherever you feel like. https://hackmd.io/SeypVWPDR3GTzltk5zMXlw?view

Tagging you folks here @riecatnor @siddharthvipul1 @sumantrom @mobrien

I had a look over it and the questions look good.
I added an extra suggested question to the hackmd.

Hi @t0xic0der I just had a chance to review. I edited some of the text to be a bit more friendly, and changed a couple wording things. I also suggested another question at the bottom. Otherwise, I think this is good to go to LimeSurvey? :)

@mobrien, thanks for the question that you added - the answers to it certainly would add value and lead us to help improve our mentorship efforts.

@riecatnor, thanks. I have gone through the draft once again and it looks a lot more approachable than it did before. +1 from my end towards putting it out.

Want to hear from you folks @siddharthvipul1 @sumantrom :)

I am closing this issue as stale since the 2021 round was some time ago.
